Later in the day, Biden commemorated the passage of the Violence Against Women Act 20 years ago. The vice president did not explicitly mention Rice, but stressed that no man has a right to raise a hand to a woman for any reason. Biden, who wrote the legislation that created a network of services for victims, expanded the number of shelters and rape crisis centers and established a national hotline, said work surrounding violence against women was “not even close to being finished.”.
Over the last year or so Griffin Farley, strategy director at BBH New York, has been working on what he calls “Propagation Planning.” To oversimplify his main thesis, he’s trying to get marketers to focus their attention on people who influence others, rather than end users or end consumers. By shifting the focus you open up the potential of influencing purchasing decisions through personal recommendations, rather than trying to drive home brand or rational benefits through your media. It’s funny what happens when you get someone to focus their attentions in new areas; it opens the floodgates for great ideas..
My love of blue is shown in my garden, too. My very favorite blue flower is the Plumbago. This is a beautiful plant that loves the heat and humidity of Summer. There are a lot of laws and policies that aim to help the poor but they are either not implemented as they should and/or are used to benefit friends of the ruling power. Example: Ruling Party creates/promotes a law that forces them to give food in public schools, sounds pretty great, right? The problem begins when the Ruling Party, using proxys, create companies to distribute and serve that food. So the newly created company real cost to deliver that food is, let say $10 pesos per dish; the Company tells the Government that the cost is $50 pesos, the Government pays and the massive profit is then divided amongst the culprits.
Over the last couple of weeks I have been comparing a few of the running apps currently on the market. It is an extremely crowded area with Sports Tracker, Runtastic, Runkeeper, Nike+, Strava, and Endomondo, to name just a few. It was the pioneer, originally available on old Nokia Symbian (and developed by Nokia Labs) phones, and was eventually spun out of Nokia into a separate company.
Nike similarly bases its operations on finding the lowest cost labor to make its athletic shoes. Twelve year old girls work in Indonesian sweatshops 70 hours a week making Nikes in unhealthy plants that reek of glue. Blue jeans and cheap clothing made in Bangladesh wind up on the shelves of American shops like K Mart and Wal Mart..
